E-LEARNING IN THE CLASSROOM   Leave a comment

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor

  • Intelligent multi-core performance

  • Power efficiency

  • Integrated graphics

WOW Vision* helped Republic Polytechnic Singapore achieve a cost savings of 80 percent for the installation of a new, remotely manageable interactive e-learning system based on multi-core Intel® processors.

Many universities are shifting from the traditional teacher-focused classroom to an interactive, e-learning model. Republic Polytechnic Singapore, for example, envisioned a hi-tech, connected audio-visual learning environment and wanted to extend these capabilities to over 725 classrooms and labs, 9,000 students and almost 1,000 teachers and staff. To keep costs in check, the new design had to integrate with the existing network infrastructure—including projector systems, computer platforms and AV equipment—and be “future-proofed” as much as possible to protect their initial investment.

The VEOS Smart Presentation System*, created and installed by WOW-Vision Pte Ltd, provides a common connection point or “gateway”, allowing an unlimited number of computers on a network to display information on a projector or large screen. The beauty of the wireless projection system is that seating is completely flexible and almost unlimited—without the hassle of plugging into and out of a hard-wired infrastructure. Interactive tools include whiteboard, e-notice board, Q&A (chat), and even a four-way screen split for viewing simultaneous presentations. VEOS allows access to the Internet and local area networks, while providing ultra-secure transmission encryption. The system is extremely simple to use, connecting to any make and model of laptop, while software can facilitate group discussions as well as private interaction between the presenter and individual participants.

Flexible, intelligent performance was a key lesson. The embedded Intel® Core™2 Duo and Intel® Core™2 Quad processors were chosen because they can run multiple programs simultaneously which allowing easy switching and resolution scaling too. “The VEOS system can stream movies, host interactive chats, access the Internet, manage security, record a presentation, and make these features available to all users at all times,” says Dr. Dinesh Tripathi, CEO for Wow-Vision. “And, with Intel® Active Management Technology, the system can be remotely and centrally managed—much like a network device—to save the university time and on-going operational costs.”

Installation time at Republic Polytechnic Singapore was 29 days for all 728 rooms (rather than 6 months expected for a conventional wired solution) at about 80% savings over a traditional AV system. No VGA or audio cabling was required, which substantially reduced the initial cost of installation and will continue to save the university the liability of maintaining hundreds of meters of cable over the years to come. Now that’s “life-long” learning!

CHANGING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION FOREVER   Leave a comment

Technology has the power to change our lives in ways that leaves us wondering sometimes what really is best for us.  But as educational institutions constantly look for better ways to facilitate learning, one solution to this can’t be ignored.

WOW Vision Room Collaboration Systems turns learning in any setting into a limitless opportunity.   A revolutionary, interactive presentation solution for educational institutions, corporate organizations, hotels and conference centers; this VEOS solution completely changes how collaborative presentations are made.  Enabling shared access, wirelessly, to a projector or display is the primary function of the system.  VEOS is so cost-effective that organizations can afford  to set up more rooms/classrooms than a comparable conventional solution would allow at the same price.

Boardrooms, courts of justice, hotel function rooms, houses of worship, schools or any educational institution can significantly benefit from this system while participants can instantly download recorded presentations at the conclusion of the presentation.  The VEOS device creates an interface between a user’s computer and a video projector or large display, via a wired or wireless network.

Some of the benefits are:

  1. Cost effective-in terms of fixed and ongoing maintenance costs.

  2. An energy-saving solution, contributing further to cost savings–ENERGY STAR rated.

  3. Facilitates collaborative learning environments without threatening network security.

  4. Proven solution-no new, risky technology.

  5. Integration with legacy projector systems.

  6. Future proof-open software and hardware architecture.

  7. Easy integration with existing network infrastructure.

  8. Requires minimal technical support.

  9. Presentations are transmitted using ultra-secure 1024-bit encryption.

  10. Efficient use of bandwidth when streaming presentations and multimedia.

CONFERENCE ROOM SUPER HERO   Leave a comment

Open the A/V cabinet in most conference rooms and you’ll discover a maze of wires and systems, all deployed there in the hopes of enabling professional presentations, collaborative meetings and interactive learning.  The problem is, these devices and software are often incompatible with one another.  How many times have you attended a meeting in which one or more presenters struggled with compatibility and operational issues between the room-deployed equipment and other systems brought in for the event?

WOW Vision has cleaned out the closet, in a sense, by developing an all in one system that enables easy shared wireless access to a projector or display.  This one-box solution to the presentation chaos uses many integrated features to accomplish the tasks that previously required multiple systems.  It’s a conference room “super hero” of sorts with many integrated features, including:  presentation recording, multi-screen content streaming, multi-client interactive software, screen resolution scaling, a shared electronic white board, and more.
